DVD I: French Oral Vowels
The Anatomy of French Sounds©: DVD I will concentrate on:
- Oral formation and Structure of oral vowels
- Oral formation and Structure of semi-vowels.
- Oral exercises to illustrate each lesson and build your vocabulary
French requires a certain precision of sound for the words to be understood as French words. Muscle tension and the positions of the lips and tongue play a crucial part in producing the desired sound(s). This program will help you understand French vowels:
- Structure of individual vowels (Oral? Nasal? Frontal? Posterior? etc.)
- The role of each letter in vowel composition
- Specific combination of letters
- The relationship between placement and sound
- The importance of syllable structure
- The role of the phonological phrase (breath cluster)
- The what, how, and where of silent vowels
When you understand the above concepts, you will be able to study French with less stress and you will be able to reproduce the sound(s) correctly. You can then capture the melodic profile of each letter and vowel. The conclusion to each lesson is an oral practice exercise that will help you rehearse what we have studied!
