The following are excerpts from the daily logs and crime reports of the University of Hawai`i at Manoa Campus Security office.
- Tuesday, July 1
12:27 a.m. A custodian reported hearing a gun shot and smelling gun powder in back of St. Johns Plant Laboratory. Responding officers found nothing--they concluded it may have been a car backfiring.
4:27 a.m. Officers responded to a domestic dispute on Maile Way. A graduate assistant was breaking up with his girlfriend.
10:21 a.m. A man went through the East-West Road parking gate without paying the $3 fee. Parking guards caught up to him by the Biomedical Sciences building parking lot. The driver refused to cooperate with the parking guards, claiming that parking guards were not real policemen.
- Wednesday, July 2
12:20 p.m. A backpack was stolen from a locker at the Bookstore. The backpack contained a cellular phone, pager, textbooks, calculator, checkbook, prescription glasses, and car keys. The contents were valued at $330.
- Thursday, July 3
10:33 a.m. A city road worker on University Ave. near Dole St. reported being hit by a passing car. He lost sight of the car after it entered the Parking Structure. Campus Security later located the driver, who thought she had just hit his shovel. The case was referred to the Honolulu Police Department.
3:17 p.m. A 1993 Honda Accord, valued at $7,000, was stolen from the Law School parking lot. The car also had a cellular phone.
3:28 p.m. A yellow 18-speed bicycle was stolen from the Marine Science Building.
- Friday, July 4
1:51 a.m. A Hale Noelani residence hall adviser reported that a group of 10-15 foreign students, ages 13-15, had left the building without permission. Officers spotted them heading toward the lower campus and escorted them back to Hale Noelani.
11:03 a.m. A wallet containing $40 in cash was stolen from a state vehicle parked in the Parking Structure.
- Saturday, July 5
9:25 a.m. A koa rocking chair, valued at $150, was stolen from Faculty Housing.
The owner was advised to file a report with HPD.
- Wednesday, July 9
10:00 a.m. A woman reported being harassed while studying in Sinclair Library. Her description of the suspect matched that of someone who was recently banned from UH-Manoa.
8:06 p.m. A group of rollerbladers were caught near the Marine Science Building courtyard.
- Thursday, July 10
10:07 a.m. A motor vehicle accident was reported on the lower campus, outside of Varsity Gate.
12:50 p.m. A black 1994 Yamaha Razz moped, valued at $900, was stolen from the lot outside Hale Aloha-Lokelani. The moped had a 12-inch Local Motion sticker on it. A report was filed with HPD.
7:30 p.m. A man was observed coming out of the Duke Kahanamoku Pool womens' restroom.

- Friday, July 11
12:23 p.m. Two men skateboarding outside of the Law Library were banned from campus for one year.
- Sunday, July 13
2:55 a.m. An officer on patrol observed two men on the eaves of Hale Noelani, trying to pry open a window on the third floor. However, upon arrival, nothing was found; residents were advised to latch their windows.
- Monday, July 14
1:35 p.m. A Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printer, valued at $1275.86, was stolen from an office inside Kennedy Theatre.
- Tuesday, July 15
12:22 a.m. An anonymous caller reported a strange smell at Mauka Faculty Housing. Responding officers could not locate the smell.
2:37 p.m. A man reported a man at the Duke Kahanamoku pool was "playing with himself."
11:37 p.m. A woman reported a loud party at Hale Wainani. The RA was notified, and the party was disbanded. However, since the party started up again within an hour, an officer was dispatched to help shut it down.
- Wednesday, July 16
11:08 a.m. A man reported the theft of a backpack from the lockers at the Bookstore.
11:27 a.m. A man was stuck in an elevator at Gilmore Hall.
4:05 p.m. A man reported a minor motor vehicle accident at the Parking Structure.
4:34 p.m. A man reported people riding bicycles in the Kuykendall Hall courtyard.
11:06 p.m. An anonymous caller reported someone playing a guitar in Jefferson Hall.
- Friday, July 18
5:30 a.m. An officer found a stolen Yamaha Razz moped outside Hale Wainani. The moped was turned over to HPD.
9:42 a.m. A parking guard reported a man sleeping on Cooke Field. When questioned by security, the man said he was a student and was waiting for a class.
3:12 p.m. Hale Noelani staff requested extra security patrols at around 3 or 4 in the morning due to noise complaints received.
5:13 p.m. A woman reported three boys walking up the College Hill driveway. The boys claimed to be picking ti leaves for their hula halau, and claimed to have permission. Security confirmed that the boys did have permission.
8:08 p.m. A man reported an alarm going off at Mauka Faculty Housing. He said he could see moving lights within the unit. Security discovered HPD officers on the scene. The officers said they found the door to the unit ajar and were checking it out.
The officers reported nothing seemed to be stolen, and the unit owner's dog was on the premises. The lights seen were from the officer's flashlights.
8:38 p.m. A woman reported an elderly man fell and hit his head at Orvis Auditorium. An ambulance was called.

- Saturday, July 19
12:31 a.m. An RA at Hale Aloha-Lokelani reported a loud noise coming from the parking lot. Responding officers found nothing.
9:33 a.m. A woman reported her blue 1990 Honda stolen from Waahila Faculty Housing.
9:57 a.m. Officers recovered a stolen gold Honda.
- Sunday, July 20
11:02 a.m. A man called from the parking structure and said "Help me." Responding officers were unable to locate the man.
3:38 p.m. A man reported he knew of stolen property being kept in a locker at Crawford Hall.
- Monday, July 21
12:10 a.m. A man called from KTUH to ask if there was a power outage on campus, saying he was having trouble with the station's power. The station manger later requested a security escort to check the antenna, which is located on the roof of Porteus Hall.
10:10 a.m. A man call claiming to be the reporting person in a sexual harassment report, and asked to add more information the case.
The was similar to two bogus reports made earlier.
2:52 p.m. A man was stuck in an elevator at Gilmore Hall
5:20 p.m. A man reported a suspicious person walking from the arena toward Dole Street. Responding officers were unable to locate the man.
- Tuesday, July 22
1:06 a.m. A woman complained people were talking loudly in the room next to her in Lincoln Hall. The RA was notified.
1:50 a.m. Officers found a man smoking in a stairwell in the Music building. Officers advised the man to leave.
4:45 a.m. Officers found pry marks on and footprints near a door in George Hall. The markings turned out to be old.
7:10 a.m. A man called to say he was coming in to make a statement related to a sexual harassment case. The man never showed up.
11:24 p.m. An officer reported scuff marks on the bumper of his security vehicle.
- Wednesday, July 23
12:45 a.m. Officers found a man smoking a glass pipe that appeared to filled with marijuana behind the band room at University Lab School. The man was arrested by HPD and he and his two companions were banned from campus.
11:32 a.m. A man was stuck in an elevator in Bilger Annex.
- Thursday, July 24
10:43 a.m. Bank of America reported an irate customer. A man came in and asked the teller for a $150 advance on a gold card. When the teller asked him to sign for the money, the man began to swear, then left. Responding officers were unable to locate the man.
11:55 a.m. A woman reported two backpacks stolen from Sinclair Library.
12:50 p.m. A woman reported a purse stolen from Sinclair Library.
3:00 p.m. A man was stuck in an elevator in the College of Business Administration building's A tower.
3:20 p.m. A parking guard reported people skateboarding in the Parking Structure.
8:40 p.m. A woman informed security she had tripped over a curbside on East West Road, but was uninjured.

- Friday, July 25
1:22 a.m. A woman reported people talking loudly at Lincoln Hall. The RA was notified.
8:02 a.m. A parking guard reported seeing a dog following a woman near Jefferson Hall. The dog was later seen by Manoa Stream, but could not be caught.
8:31 a.m. A man reported a water leak at the Hale Wainani. A plumber was notified.
9:02 a.m. A woman reported a man wanted for questioning by HPD was at Paradise Palms. The man was taken to the police station for questioning related to last semester's arson at Campus Center.
12:32 p.m. A woman reported people skateboarding at Sakamaki Hall.
- Saturday, July 26
4:48 p.m. A man reported people skateboarding in the gym. Responding officers found nothing.
- Sunday, July 27
1:31 a.m. An RA at Hale Wainani requested assistance breaking up a party.
3:25 p.m. A man reported people skateboarding in Kuykendall Hall. The skaters were advised not to skate in the building and left the scene.
- Monday, July 28
4:28 a.m. A parking guard in the Parking Structure reported seeing eight men walking toward the Hale Wainani throwing fireworks. The men disappeared by the dormitories.
- Tuesday, July 29
1:11 a.m. An officer discovered some men playing in the gym. When the officer opened the front door, then men quickly disappeared through a back entrance.
1:34 p.m. A man reported an elderly man fell down at the lo`i patch near the Hawaiian Studies building. The man was transported to the Queen's Medical Center.
3:19 p.m. A parking guard reported a motor vehicle accident in front of Watanabe Hall. One of the drivers involved refused to cooperate with security, so the matter was referred to the boy's father.
- Wednesday, July 30
1:49 p.m. A woman reported someone had stolen a three-piece sculpture from the Art Building.
2:30 p.m. A man reported a motor vehicle accident between a state vehicle and a Federal Express truck in front of Spalding Hall. The matter was referred to HPD.
- Thursday, July 31
1:24 a.m. Officers noticed a man skulking around the Manoa Texaco. HPD was notified.
9:27 a.m. A woman reported a man was harassing people outside Sinclair Library. The man was reportedly asking for money. He was also reported to have said to a woman "You is cute. Are you married?" Responding officers could not locate the man.
