Lacene Terri Joins G.O.P. for 4th of July Parade in Kailua

HONOLULU (4 July 2002) — Lacene Terri, candidate for Hawai`i State Senate District 23 (Kane`ohe to Kawela Bay) — along with fellow candidates, supporters and friends — celebrated Independence Day by joining the annual 4th of July parade in Kailua.

Hundreds rallied under the Hawai`i Republican party banner, including Linda Lingle, Republican candidate for governor. She was warmly received by the thousands who had gathered along the three-mile parade route. "It's time for a change," many chanted.

Other candidates participating in the parade included Dalton Tanonaka (running for Lieutenant Governor), Rep. Joe Gomes (District 51), and Gordon Trimble (running for State Senate District 12).

The parade, organized by the Kailua Chamber of Commerce, is a Windward tradition going back more than fifty years. There were more than one hundred groups participating this year.
