UHPA Endorses Terri for Senate District 23

[ UHPA Logo - Copyright UHPA ]HONOLULU (24 August 2002) The University of Hawaii Professional Assembly (UHPA), which represents more than 3,000 UH faculty members across 11 campuses statewide, this week endorsed Republican Lacene Terri in the race for Senate District 23.

The district spans more than 30 miles of Oahus northeast coastline, from Kaneohe to Kawela Bay on the North Shore.

John Radcliffe, UHPA Associate Executive Director, said: "The University of Hawaii Professional Assembly is proud to endorse Lacene Terri's candidacy for the State Senate because our 3,000 members understand that from Windward Community College to UH-Manoa to all other aspects of the system, she is committed to putting her expertise and her reputation behind really making improvements in the University of Hawaii."

Terri, a UH alumna, said: "A strong, independent, world-class university is vital to Hawaiis future. A good education is an important step in opening minds, opening doors, and building the foundation for a stronger community, and in turn a stronger economy."

Though Terri has nine years of work experience at the Capitol, this is her first run for public office. Her professional experience also includes working in the private sector with the Pacific Basin Economic Council, a prominent international trade association headquartered in Honolulu. Terri currently works at the State Capitol as Aide to 20 Republican Representatives of the State House.
