Dear Editor,

Negative campaigning is rampant this year, and newspapers must expose lies when they occur. One such lie has hit someone I work closely with, Lacene Terri, candidate for Windward Oahu State Senator. Ms. Terri currently manages the largest group of Republicans to serve in the State House since Statehood, holding one of the House's two most significant Republican staff positions. Ms. Terri performs her role admirably, keeping us moving forward as a group.

Ms. Terri, because she works directly with all 20 Republicans, functions more like a Representative than a staff person. Given her previous Legislative experience and her current work with the Legislature, Ms. Terri is more qualified to represent Windward Oahu than Aduja, who has slandered Ms. Terri's performance.

Several Democrats went directly from staff jobs to the Legislature. Our senior Republican, Barbara Marumoto, as well as the most effective current City Council member, Ann Kobayashi, both moved from Republican staff jobs to effective legislative careers.

If Ms. Terri wasn't by occupation already more qualified to represent Windward Oahu than Aduja, she certainly is now by moral character. The last thing the State Senate needs is the morally questionable person that slanderer Aduja has proven herself to be.
